Every spring, during the school holiday weeks leading up to Easter, young visitors to MTZ – the Main Taunus Shopping Center – are invited to put their creative talents to work, decorating the walks and plazas of Frankfurt’s oldest shopping Mall.
Directly at the center’s hub lies the Creative Easter Garden, welcoming the city’s children annually to join in on the fun.
The history of the chocolate Easter Bunny
From March 30th till April 15th, Easter Rabbit’s busy team awaited kids aged five to twelve with an impressive array of stencils, cutouts and blueprints for the making of original Easter gifts and decorations. A challenging egg-roll obstacle course added to the excitement. Scrumptiously informative for young and old was the Cocoa-to-Grenache exhibit, depicting the history and making of the traditional chocolate Easter bunny: from raw cocoa beans to exquisite chocolate confections.
An elaborate event carried out by the ITMS Events and Marketing Team
Preparation for the novel event was an extensive, detailed affair, beginning weeks in advance. Qualified staff needed to be recruited, primed and scheduled to run like clockwork, regardless of how many children participated. For the 14-day event, ITMS even set up a 2nd string of helpers for the busiest days and hours leading up to Easter… guaranteeing the kids the guidance and support necessary to create their mini masterpieces.
With regular MTZ shoppers visiting the Creative Easter Garden every afternoon, children from kindergardens and after-school programs in the surrounding neighborhoods flocked by special invitation each morning to participate in the traditional egg-decorating contest. The day care centers with the most winning votes were awarded valuable gift certificates “Raw” eggs of Styrofoam and a bright array of sparkling and colorful craft supplies were the materials of choice. The finished creations were hung from the flowering Easter boughs and branches lining the mall’s courts and promenades. Each child’s egg was displayed with an identifying number – shoppers, visitors, family and friends were encouraged to place their votes for the most beautiful, creative and original ones.
The Creative Easter Garden is a revered annual occasion at MTZ, with ever changing throngs of children lining up each year for the event. Visitors and children alike never cease to enjoy the spectacle… and teachers and classes are grateful for the creative respite during the school-free days. Always worth a visit, the MTZ Mall is a true delight at Easter time. Continually setting the standards like no other to provide Frankfurt a most satisfying shopping experience, Easter time at MTZ gives the youngest a uniquely generous opportunity to stretch their talents and put them on display to the delight of everyone.
