Qatar Airways Draws Large Crowds at ITB Berlin

The tourism industry continues to boom – and the world’s largest tourism trade fair reaffirmed that earlier this month in Berlin. In order to stand out from the multitude of travel exhibitors from more than 180 countries among the 160,000 visitors at the annual industry meeting, one must be creative and demonstrate a flair for the extraordinary.

In close cooperation with long-standing client Qatar Airways, ITMS’ PR specialists once again managed to draw everyone’s attention on the opening day of the show in Germany’s capital. In an event at the airline’s booth, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker presented the airline’s new economy class concept to clients, guests and the international travel media. He also announced seven upcoming destinations in its rapidly growing global network in a separate press conference.

The agency’s planned activities started with a spectacular unveiling of the new economy class product. Thanks to months of intense preparation, this important event was attended by a number of prominent guests: The Governing Mayor of Berlin Michael Müller, the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Germany Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the French national soccer star and 2018 World Champion Corentin Tolisso and former German national player Lothar Matthäus. The airline presented its new economy class seat in a grandiose ceremony. The product features an innovative 19-degree incline system, additional legroom, dual trays, 13.3-inch 4-K wide screens and a fast-charging Type-C USB port.

The journalists then flocked to the airline’s press conference, which welcomed over 220 media representatives. The agency’s tireless planning and tenacious invitation process, writing press texts, arranging event activities, photography, moderation, and so on, paid off. 250 press packages were ready and waiting. The press release was ready to send as soon as the appropriate event photos were selected. Interview requests from the media were accommodated in a tight schedule. With that, everyone was able leave the exhibition not only with their A380 aircraft model giveaway but more importantly, with plenty of information and quotes for their stories.
